Diamond USA vs. Tri-Star

Hits were at a premium for Diamond in the top half of the 1st. They had three straight hits, including an RBI single from #00, which scored #7 and gave them the lead 1-0 with two runners on base. Another hit from #32 scored #10 and bringing the score to 2-0, with one out and two runners on. An errant throw from the shortstop scored #32 and #8. The lead was 4-0. Then, #44 drew a walk, loading the bases with only two outs. A fly out to center field put an end to the high-scoring inning as Diamond USA went away with a four-run lead into the bottom half of the 1st. #44 worked around an error in the outfield to keep Tri-Star off the board in the first. The score stayed at 4-0. A leadoff hit from #16, followed by an RBI single from #7, expanded the lead to 5-0 in favor of Diamond USA. Soon, an errant throw from the catcher drifted into left field, scoring #7 to continue the offensive explosion for Diamond USA. A walk for Diamond USA would not be of any help, as the runner was picked off by #7 of Tri-Star to make the 2nd out of the inning. #44 Ben Johnson worked another quick 1,2,3 inning, his breaking ball had been sharp, keeping hitters off-balance. Then, Tri-Star made a pivotal pitching change in the bottom of the 2nd to #0. He managed a scoreless bottom half. Diamond USA made a pitching change as well to #32 Fields, who, although he put two on, was able to work around them to escape the jam and maintain the 6-0 lead. #16 roped a leadoff double down the right-field line, and Diamond USA was in business again at the top of the 4th. #7 Heflin knocked a single into right field followed by an HBP. And so, Diamond USA now had bases loaded with one out. #0 managed an impressive strikeout to keep it bases loaded with two outs. #0 walked in one, bringing the lead to 7-0, and the bases were still loaded with two outs. Another walk and a two-out 2 RBI single made the lead 10-0 in favor of Diamond USA. Tri-Star hadn’t given up yet, though. Soon, a timely RBI double for Tri-Star was followed by a couple of passed balls. Tri-Star was on the board, and the score was 10-2. A leadoff hit was stranded for Diamond USA, and they entered into the bottom of the 5th still up 10-2. Tri-Star hit for two on a single that scored #10 and #2, making the score 10-4. With a bases-loaded fielder’s choice for Tri-Star, the lead was now 10-5. The final score of the ball game was 10-5 Diamond USA.

Stars vs. Tri-Star

#6 Larue ensured a quick, scoreless first inning for the Stars, keeping the score at 0 going into the bottom half of the 1st. #14 Mills led off the bottom half of the 1st with a single to left field, putting the Stars in business early with no outs. With a walk to #2 Jones, Stars now have two on with no outs. A wild pitch scored one and brought the lead to 1-0 with one out. A sacrifice fly to left field scored another run and extended the lead to 2-0 Stars. #17 Wallace worked around a hit in the bottom of the 2nd to keep Stars in check, holding the lead at 2-0. #2 Jones slammed one back up the middle for an RBI single. In doing so, he extended the lead to 3-0. A DEEP double to center put two on for Tri-Star in the 4th. Then, an out made at home on a passed ball placed a runner at 3rd with only one out. An RBI single from #37 Rosa finally cut the lead to 3-1 Stars. A defensive miscue from the shortstop scored the runner from 3rd and shrunk the lead even more to 3-2. #9 Johnson came on to pitch for Tri-Star and secured a quick 1,2,3 inning. Stars scratched out two more runs bring the score to 5-2 going into the top of the 6th. Both pitchers shut down the offenses in the 6th, allowing only a few runners to get on base. Tri-Star pushed across one more run through an RBI single in the top of the 7th, but the victory still fell to Knoxville Stars 5-3.

Diamond Nation vs. Stars

#14 Mills started the offense early for Stars as he ripped a leadoff single back up the middle for a base hit. A walk for #2 Jones and passed ball scores a run for Stars making it 1-0 early. A sac fly for #30 Lemons, and the lead had been doubled as Stars go up 2-0. #4 threw a quick scoreless bottom of the 1st inning, keeping the lead at 2-0. An error from the 3rd baseman scored 1 for Stars pushing the lead to 3-0. Diamond Nation put the pressure on with two men on base but failed to capitalize as the lead stayed at 3-0 in favor of Stars. A leadoff walk for #2 Jones got the Star’s offense going in the top half of the 3rd. An RBI single for #30 Lemons made the lead 4-0 with no outs in the 3rd. Three straight batters got on base, making it bases loaded with no outs for Stars. #13 Jinks drew a walk and gained an RBI out of it. The score was now 5-0 bases loaded with no outs. #5 Stewart knocked in 2 with a single to center extending the Star lead to 7-0. Diamond Nation put the leadoff man on in the 3rd but was not able to capitalize. #14 Mills walked to start the inning, and came around to score, followed by #2 Jones. The score was now 9-0 with runners on 1st and 2nd. Then, #5 Stewart singled in another run to take the lead 10-0. In the end, Stars took a run-rule victory over Diamond Nation 10-0.

Dirtbags vs. BC Athletics

#12 started off the game with a leadoff single to right field to get Dirtbags going in the top half of the 1st. #8 knocked a triple over the head of the left fielder, which was knocked via sac fly to score the first run of the ball game for BC. #22 burned the center fielder for a stand up double, followed by a walk. There were now runners on the corner with one out. A passed ball scored #22 from 3rd base, making the score 1-1. Back to back base hits for BC gave them two on with no outs. Then it happened. #99 ripped a single into left field, scoring #24 to make the score 2-0, one man still on for BC. And then, an infield single scored two for BC expanding their lead to 4-0. A bases-loaded balk scored one more for BC, making the lead 5-0. #7 worked a quick 1,2,3 inning for Dirtbags as the lead was kept at 5-0. #22 got a one-out double for Dirtbags but was not able to capitalize, and they were held scoreless. #7 knocked a double off the left-field wall followed by a single from #17, which scored him and bought the score to 6-0. #12 worked around a one-out base hit for BC Athletics, keeping the lead to 7-1. BC Athletics struck for one-off of a base hit with an error and pushed the lead to 8-1 in the top of the 7th. The game ended 8-1, and BC Athletics took the win.

BC Athletics vs. Diamond Nation

#27 Evon worked a quick first inning for BC Athletics. With leadoff walk and an errant throw from the 3rd baseman, BC was in business with runners on the corners and no outs. #99 Cameron knocked in a run with an infield single to take an early 1-0 lead. A base hit for #35 Mackey and a passed ball meant he was now at 3rd base with one out. #17 Ellis knocked in a run with a hard-hit single to left field to extend the BC lead to 2-0. #8 McMurray brought in #17 Ellis, and the lead was now 3-0. An errant throw allowed #27 Evon to get on safely and score #7 Ellis to make the lead 4-0. #11 Johnston smoked a triple to right field to score #27 Evon. BC was pouring it on, extending the lead to 5-0. #27 Evon worked around a base hit to strand one player. The score remained unchanged. #99 Cameron took advantage of a leadoff base knock for BC in the bottom half; He smashed the ball twice this game. Cameron’s single was followed by a single from #14 Benko, putting two on with no outs. #99 Cameron scored on a botched infield fly pushing the lead to 6-0. BC Athletics scored two more off a single, and the lead was 8-1. A sac fly from #8 McMurray scored one more to make the lead grow to 9-1. Diamond Nation put two on base but was unable to push a run across. #27 Evon finished off his complete game as BC Athletics defeats Diamond Nation 9-1.

Dirtbags vs. Diamond USA

Diamond USA jumped out with a big start for game 1 of the day. They scored four runs off of RBI hits from #8, #7 Heflin and #34, and a passed ball made the score 4-0 going into the top half of the 1st. #16 worked around a leadoff base runner in the top of the 2nd but stranded the runner at 3rd to keep the lead at 4-0. #00 worked a scoreless 1,2,3 inning in the bottom half of the 2nd for Dirtbags. #38 drew a leadoff walk for Dirtbags and was brought in from a two-out triple from #1, cutting the lead to 4-1. An error by the 3rd baseman put #3 on base safely, as well as scoring #1, making the lead 4-2 in favor of Diamond USA. #7 Heflin knocked in #1 Addman to lengthen the lead to 5-2. #10 Scott ripped a double to the right-center field gap to score #7 Heflin. #32 Fields made another base hit for Diamond scoring #10 Scott to put the lead at 7-2. #16 knocked a single to left scoring a run for Diamond, followed by a sac fly from #13 making the lead 9-2. #8 worked a quick 1,2,3 inning for Diamond USA as they carry a 9-2 lead into the bottom half of the 4th. #9 knocked in 2 RBI’s with a single to left field extending the lead to 11-2. Diamond scored one more to make the score 12-2. Diamond USA grabbed a run-rule victory over Dirtbags 12-2.

Tri-Star vs. Diamond Nation

#37 Rosa worked a quick first inning to keep it at 0 going into the bottom half. Tri-Star jumped out to an early 1-0 via two walks with passed balls spread throughout. A walk, error, and base hit loaded the bases for Tri-Star in the 1st with one run already in. Ben Bryant left the bases loaded as the lead was held at 1-0. Ben Bryant started off the 2nd inning with a double to center field and scored on a passed ball, tying the game at 1-1 going into the bottom half of the 2nd. Tri-Star made two, two-out base hits to push across another run to make the score 2-1. Both teams were held scoreless in the third inning; pitching had been excellent on both sides. #22 Snyder knocked a two-out double down the left-field line but was not able to score in the inning. The score remained 2-1 going into the bottom half of the 6th. #27 Wright led off the bottom of the 6th with a single into left field, but Tri-Star was unable to score him and will take a one-run lead into the 7th inning. The final score of the ball game was 2-1, and Tri-Star advanced.

Diamond USA vs. Knoxville Stars

#9 Orr started off the game with a single to the left, followed by a walk putting runners on the corners with no outs. An errant pickoff throw scored the man from 3rd, making it 1-0 with a runner on second. #32 Fields doubled in a man from second making the lead 2-0 in favor of Diamond. #16 Suggs knocked in a run with a bloop single to right field to extend the lead to 3-0. #30 Lemons got a base knock in the bottom of the 1st but was thrown out after a hit from #6 Larue to end the inning scoreless. #1 Hamilton and #51 Byers walked to leadoff the bottom of the 2nd inning. #9 Finstad knocked in one with a single back up the middle to decrease the lead to 3-1. Although they made back to back hits to start the top of the 3rd, Diamond was unable to score in the inning. The Stars were swinging it this inning, scoring 2 with no outs. #1 Hamilton knocked in two to take the lead at 5-3. #2 Jones knocked in two with an RBI triple helping Stars take a commanding lead of 7-3. An errant throw by the catcher scored #2 Jones from 3rd, making the lead grow even further to 8-3. Pitchers #12 for Diamond and #51 for Stars held the offenses in check until the bottom of the 6th. #6 Larue singled in #2 Jones to push the Star lead to 9-3. #51 singled in two runs to complete the run-rule victory by a score of 11-3.

Knoxville Stars vs. BC Athletics

#14 Mills led off the game with a single to left field followed by a bunt for a hit from #2 Jones that would score a run off of a throwing error. The shortstop stopped to the rally with a double play; the score was 1-0 going into the bottom of the 1st. #11 ripped a big two-out double to right field and was knocked in by another double from #99 tying the game at 1-1. Stars put two on with no outs but were unable to capitalize as the score was still 1-1 going into the bottom half of the 2nd. BC Athletics put two on in the bottom half of the second but were unable to plate them, leaving the game still at a tie. #14 Mills knocked a triple to right field followed by a walk from #2 Jones. Stars now have runners on the corners with one out. #30 Lemon drew a walk and loaded the bases for #6 Larue. #6 Larue smoked a double to the center-field wall scoring #14 Mills and #2 Jones to retake the lead 3-1. A defensive miscue from BC Athletics scored two more runs for Stars making the lead 5-1 in favor of Stars. #11 ripped another double to right field followed by another double from #99, making the score 5-2 going into the top half of the 4th. Stars put two on, and they scored off of an error from the third baseman to push the lead to 7-2. #14 knocked a double into left field for BC putting them in business with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the 4th. Three runs scored in the bottom of the 4th, making it 7-5. A sac fly scored #1 Hamilton for Stars extending the lead to 8-5 in the top of the 5th. #14 tripled in two runs for BC Athletics cutting the deficit, even more, it was now 8-7. Another hit for BC Athletics tied the ball game 8-8 with two runners on base. #17 with a HUGE two-out double to the left-center field gap took the lead for BC Athletics at 10-8. #11 followed one big hit with another as he singled in 2 runs to make the score 12-8. BC scored another run off of a line drive over the head of the shortstop followed by a bloop single extending their lead to 14-8. Another RBI single for BC made the lead 15-8 still in the bottom half of the 5th. A bases-loaded walk ended the ball game as BC Athletics won the game 16-8.
