In the top of the first inning, 5 Star got their offense started when Marshall McGowan singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run. Every run scored in the remainder of the game came off of a leadoff walk with runners managing to work their way around the diamond via productive outs and passed balls. Sprouse only allowed three hits and two runs over his five innings pitched, as well as striking out five. Gowan allowed four hits and struck out eight over his five innings of pitching. This game was a perfect showcase of how walks can kill you as a team.
