We held an event in the Knoxville and Maryville areas on July 15-18 for ages 16u and 18u. Our championship games on Sunday got rained out, but everyone did a great job leading up to the end of the tournament.

All American Patriots 17u vs Knoxville Stars Blue

The game started slowly with very few hits and very few walks. Sills was rolling while not giving up a run through three. The Patriots had an early lead of 2-0, but this changed dramatically once the fourth inning hit. The Stars’ bats came alive, dropping a big nine-spot. Then, in the fifth inning, they put up four more runs. The Patriots attempted a late-inning comeback, but could not pull through. Scoring three in the bottom of the fifth was not enough against the Stars’ hot bats.

BC Athletics 18u vs 615 East Cobb Astros 

This game was all Astros the whole time. The Athletics had a hard time finding their bats, while the Astros tallied up an abundance of hits. Once the third inning hit, the Astros had made six runs in the innings. Hitters such as DyLaw, Brett, and Jack found their groove and shut the door on the Athletics. The Athletics also made some costly mistakes in the field, resulting in a few runs.

BC Athletics vs Mission Prospects Tigers

The game started with a complete pitching duel between Glines and Tesh. The Athletics were the first to get on the board with a pair of hits from Tesh and Simpson. After four, the Athletics opened a 3-0 lead over the Tigers. The Tigers could never get their bats rolling, leaving them scoreless at the end of the game. A hit and a walk started a late-inning rally against the Athletics, but the door was shut after a pop fly and a quick strikeout.

BC Athletics 18u vs TN Stix

This game was another pitching duel between Taylor and Reynolds. The Stix jumped on the board first with a pair of hits, making it 1-0. Reynolds rolled until the fourth inning where the Athletics put together a few hits combined with a few walks, earning them three runs. Taylor did not allow another run through his exit at the end of the fifth. A huge RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth gave the Athletics a 4-1 lead with one to go. The Stix did not have enough offensive power to overcome the three-run deficit in the top of the seventh.

East TN Rockets vs All American Patriots 18u

These two teams squared off in a very evenly matched game. The Rockets jumped on the board early with one run strung together by a couple of hits. These two teams played a clean, well-coached game. The Patriots responded with a couple of hits by Richardson and Hayton to gain a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth inning. After a balk and a huge RBI single by Painter, the Rockets were able to recapture the lead at 3-2 headed to the bottom of the fifth. The Patriots quickly responded with a pair of their own due to hits from Richardson, Hayton, and Chaffin. The Patriots regained their lead by one headed to the sixth. Briggs took matters into his own hands when he hit a game-tying triple in the sixth. Babb then scored Briggs to take the lead, 5-4, Rockets. In dramatic fashion, the Rockets held on to win.

Fannin 16u vs Bulls Baseball

Bulls Baseball came out firing with their bats. Through a mixture of walks, wild pitches, and hits, the Bulls were able to put up four runs in the top of the first. A huge RBI double by Moore capitalized the beginning of the game. The Bulls put pressure back on Fannin in the second, but escaped with a pair of strikeouts to end the inning. The top of the fourth was nothing but trouble for Fannin. After an abundance of walks and errors, the Bulls scored seven to make the score 11-0. The Bulls ended up run-ruling Fannin in the fourth.

GRA Norton vs Cyclones

This game started with an abundance of walks for both teams. GRA walked in three runs in the bottom of the first, giving the Cyclones a 3-0 lead headed into the second inning. GRA had a big third inning, scoring four thanks to the help of Grooms with a two RBI double. The hot bats of the Cyclones ended up prevailing in a 6-4 win.

KBA 16u vs SWA Storm

Storm came out swinging in the bottom of the first with a triple, two doubles, and two singles- all attached with an RBI. After the first inning, Storm led the game 6-0. With more hits from Fuller and Carter, the Storm added to their lead to make it 8-0 headed into the third. The Storm’s pitcher went on to strike out the last six batters of the game, and the Storm went on to beat the Prime 8-0.

Tri Star Crusaders vs Tennessee Tide

This game was a complete pitching battle. There were no runs scored through four innings. Grant Zehr and M. Wilson put on a pitching clinic. It was the swing of Caden Thomas’s bat that gave TN Tide the first runs of the game from a two RBI double. This was followed by a throwing error that allowed the runner from third to reach home safely, making the score 3-0 headed into the sixth. The game ended in dramatic fashion with a double play caused by an interference. The late rally by the Crusaders came up short.

Diamond Mine vs Longhorns Baseball

This game started as a pitching duel until the Longhorns’ bats awoke with vengeance in the third inning where they scored eight runs off of five hits, including a triple by Quentin Depelo. Walks were also a reason why the Longhorns had such a big inning. This big inning was enough to meet the run rule qualifications. The Longhorns just needed to hold them for two more innings and that is exactly what they did.

RBI Hitmen vs Pro Concepts

This game was a defensive-specialty game. On both sides of the ball, there were numerous diving plays and double plays. That is exactly why the score was still 1-0 Concepts headed into the bottom of the fifth. Both pitching staffs pitched very well. It wasn’t until the top of the seventh when the scoreboard changed. #7 from Pro Concepts hit a two-run double to take a 3-0 lead. The game ended at 4-0.

Big Time Sports vs RBI Prime

This game turned out to be a well played, evenly matched game. Strung together by a walk and a hit, RBI Prime was able to push a run across in the bottom of the second. Big Time was shut out until the top of the fourth when they scored on a fielder’s choice by the second baseman. Big Time’s pitcher got out of a bases-loaded no-outs situation in the bottom of the fourth, ending with a strikeout. After a walk and a successful bunt, Big Time was able to push a run across off of a throwing error. The very next inning, RBI Prime went on to score off an error themselves. This game ended up in a tie at 2-2.

Showcase 17U- Vaughn vs Longhorns Baseball

Showcase 17U- Vaughn took home the win over Longhorns Baseball with a score of 5-1. It was a great pitching performance by the two pitchers on Showcase. #22 Copley went five innings only allowing two hits, three walks, and striking out two. #1 Buck entered the game in relief to shut them down, almost keeping the shutout going until the last out of the game. He went two innings with one strikeout, one run, one hit, and one walk. Both pitchers pitched to contact, and the defense played really well. The Longhorns pitcher also did a great job, but ended with the loss. The bats couldn’t get hot for the Longhorns as they only had three hits the whole game. Showcase hit the ball very well and was smart on the basepaths.

Showcase Baseball vs TDK Baseball

What a game by both Showcase Baseball and TDK Baseball! It was a pitcher’s battle between both teams and Showcase came out on top with the win, 1-0. The hitters from both teams couldn’t hit the ball well by both pitchers, but two key hits by Showcase helped them score that one run. The pitching from both teams was phenomenal and both pitchers competed very well. #9 Flick, for Showcase Baseball, threw a complete game one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts!  #7 Webb, for TDK Baseball, threw six innings only giving up four hits, one run, one walk, and striking out six. It was a very competitive game from both teams, and they did a great job defensively as well.

NRV Tigers Orange vs Chattanooga Generals

It was a great game for the NRV Tigers as they took the win via run rule with a score of 9-0 after six innings. Both teams were slow to hit and score runs as both pitchers were pitching really well. After the third inning, the Tigers began to hit the ball very well when the bullpen came in to pitch. They scored little by little each inning until the run rule was in effect. #6 Hall, for the Tigers, threw six innings only allowing two hits, one walk, and striking out 12! He threw a no-hitter until the fifth inning. He located very well and commanded his fastball. The defense did a great job behind him as well.

TN Fuel vs East TN Rockets

East TN Rockets took the win over the TN Fuel, 7-2. The Rockets hit the ball very well and almost every player got at least one hit. The Rockets ran the bases aggressively and played great defense. #5 McBride, for the Rockets, pitched a great game going six innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, and striking out 10. The Rockets took an early lead and kept it the whole game. TN Fuel hit the ball well, but couldn’t scratch off many runs which lead to them losing the game. It was a good game from both teams, but the Rockets were able to play defense and hit on offense very well.

Carolina Prowl vs Chaos Elite 

Chaos Elite and Carolina Prowl had a back-and-forth game that ended in a walk-off by Chaos Elite. Chaos Elite won 5-4 and never gave up the whole game. Both sides had a great pitching performance as both pitchers tried to go the distance. Both teams hit very well and were really good on the basepaths. Chaos Elite came back and put up four runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win. #22 Cole, for Chaos Elite, went five innings, allowing three hits, four walks, four runs, and striking out two. #11 Mahaffey, for Carolina Prowl, pitched four and one-third innings, giving up six hits, five runs, two walks, and striking out two. Both pitchers pitched to contact and the defense did their job. It was a great game that came down to the wire.

Fury Chatt 17U vs Hard Knox Blue Jays

Hard Knox Blue Jays come out on top with the win against Fury Chatt, 9-3. Both teams hit the ball very well and had a lot of base hits. It all came down to who could score those runs when there were base runners on. The Blue Jays did just that, and almost everyone had at least one hit. The pitcher for the Blue Jays was really good. He pitched to contact and let his defense work. He trusted his stuff and never lost confidence in his pitches. #4 Yates went six innings, giving up six hits, three runs, one walk, one hit-by-pitch, and striking out four. The pitching for the Fury couldn’t handle the hot bats of the Blue Jays and it cost them in the end.

ATL Metro RBI vs East TN Elite

This was a very competitive game between ATL Metro RBI and East TN Elite that came down to the wire. It was a back-and-forth game between both teams, but in the end ATL Metro RBI came out on top with a walk-off single in the bottom of the fifth to win 4-3. Both teams hit the ball well with timely hits and made the defense work. ATL Metro rallied back in the last inning to take home the win. Both pitchers from each team struggled at the start, but the bullpen came in and helped each team. #2, for ATL Metro, came in and pitched two and one-third innings, only allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out two. #17 Nick, for East TN Elite, came in relief and pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up three hits, two runs, and walking two. ATL Metro RBI didn’t give up on themselves and played very well defensively.

NRV Tigers 17U Orange vs TN Force

This was a great game between NRV Tigers 17U Orange and TN Force as they ended up in a tie. The Tigers took an early lead in the first inning, but couldn’t hold on to it as TN Force never gave up. They rallied back each inning and scored eight to take the lead at one point. It was then tied back up by the Tigers. The pitching for both teams was pretty good as each pitcher tried to compete and get groundballs. The bullpen for TN Force came to pitch and did a good job getting outs. As both teams hit the ball very well and put it in play, the defense was on-and-off for both teams. TN Force did a great job coming back to almost secure the win, but the Tigers didn’t want to go home. It ended in a tie, but both teams played very well.

Showcase 17U Vaughn vs NRV Tigers Orange 

It was a big comeback win for Showcase 17U- Vaughn as they beat NRV Tigers Orange and advanced. Showcase was down all game and couldn’t get across any runs until the last inning where they put up four to make it 5-2. Both teams had chances to score early, but couldn’t get anything across. The Tigers played very well offensively and defensively, but didn’t have any timely hits with runners in scoring position. The pitchers from both teams pitched very well and competed to get outs. #1 Buck, for Showcase, came in relief and pitched very well. He went four innings, giving up only three hits, one hit-by-pitch, zero runs, and striking out four. #33 Clatterbaugh, for the Tigers, started and almost went the full game. He pitched six innings, only allowing five hits, three runs, and striking out three. Both pitchers pitched to contact, and after the Tigers scored in the first inning they didn’t score again.

The Astros took home the win and advanced, run-ruling Chaos Elite in five innings, 9-0. The Astros started off hot and never stopped after the first inning. The players on the Astros had multiple hits and hit the ball very well. The pitching for the Astros was really good and they commanded the zone very well. Chaos Elite only had four hits the entire game and couldn’t manage to score any runs. #44 Jonny, for the Astros, started and went four innings, only giving up three hits, zero runs, and striking out five. #41 Dylan came in relief and went one inning, only giving up one hit, one walk, and striking out one.

Fannin 16u vs Chaos Elite

Fannin got things going early in this one by plating a run in the first inning on a sac fly from Weaver. The Chaos answered back in the bottom half of the first on an RBI double from #7. Both pitchers settled in after the first inning and put up a few straight scoreless innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Colby hit a deep-fly ball to right field to score a run, giving the Chaos a 2-1 lead after four innings played. In the top of the fifth, Fannin scored on a fielder’s choice to make it a tied game at 2-2. However, Chaos Elite exploded in the bottom half of the inning for seven runs to make the score 9-2. This one ended 9-3.

Both pitchers came out hot in this one, putting up zeroes for both teams through the first four innings. In the bottom of the fourth, All American scored on a sac fly and a fielder’s choice, giving them a 2-0 lead after the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fifth, they added another run on a throwing error from the outfield to go up 3-0. #9 got the three-inning save as he closed the game out for All American, 3-0.

The Crusaders started off on the right foot, scoring three runs in the first inning with the help of a two-run bomb from Wylie. BCA answered right back with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The score was 3-3 after one inning. Both teams added a run in the fourth to make the score 4-4. Parton came on in the seventh for the Crusaders and closed the game out to end it in a 4-4 tie.

The Elite scored two in the first inning on an RBI single from #11, and two more in the second inning on an error, giving them a 4-0 lead after two innings played. The Crusaders scratched one in the third on an RBI from Cook to bring the score to 4-1. The Elite added again in the fourth inning on a fielder’s choice, making it 5-1 Elite after four innings. The Crusaders added two in the inning on an RBI double from Melton, making it 6-3 after five innings. This one ended 8-3.

Tri Star Crusaders vs All American Patriots 

The Crusaders plated two in the top of the first inning on hits from Davis, Cook, and Brady. The Patriots’ first run of the game came on a throwing error from the Crusaders. After one inning the score was 2-1 Crusaders. The Crusaders added another run in the top of the second to make it 3-1. The Patriots scored on another error in the fourth to bring the score to 3-2 with bases loaded and no outs in the inning. The Crusaders worked out of it, putting the score up 3-2 after four innings. In the top of the seventh, the Crusaders pushed across eight runs on a combination of errors, walks, and a few hits, making the score 11-2, and that is how this one ended.

Both teams struggled at the plate for three innings until finally East Cobb broke it open in the top of the fourth. Brett capped off the inning with a two-run moonshot over the center-field fence for East Cobb to give them a 5-0 lead. The Astros added three more in the sixth to make it 8-0. The Prowl tried to battle back in the last inning, but fell short. This one ended, 7-4, Astros.

Royce struck out two in the top of the first for the Longhorns, making it 0-0 after the top of the first. The Prospects scored two on a double from Mills in the second inning, giving the Prospects a 2-0 lead. Mission scored two more in the third inning on a fielder’s choice and an error to extend their lead to 4-0. Mission scored again on a fielder’s choice from McMahon, making it 5-0. The Prospects won this one 12-0 thanks to a grand slam and a big fourth inning.

The Hitmen scored first in this one, scoring on a sacrifice fly from #24, making it 1-0 after the top of the first. The Chaos answered back in the bottom half of the inning, plating two on RBIs from Colby and Nate, giving them a one-run lead after the first inning The Hitmen scored again in the top half of the second on an error to even the score. The score was 2-2 after the top of the second. The Hitmen scored four runs in the next two innings on errors and a fielder’s choice to win this one 6-4.

Dylan started the game off for the Sox with a base hit, however, Holmes worked out of the inning without giving up a run, making it 0-0 after the top of the first. The Base Knox Soxs started the scoring in this one, putting up four runs on three hits, two walks, and an error. The score was 4-0 after the top of the fourth. The Sox added another run in the fifth on a single from Kayden, making it 5-0 after the top of the fourth. The bats came alive for the Cyclones in the top of the sixth with an RBI single from Morris. This one ended at the time limit, 6-1 Soxs.

Joe started the game off right for the Sox, hammering a double into the right-center gap, but was left stranded at second base. After the top of the first, the score was 0-0. The Storm got their first run of the game on a sac fly from Carter, and got another from an E5. An RBI single from Love, and an RBI bunt single from Sleep scored two more, making it 4-0. They finished the inning scoring six runs to take an early 6-0 lead. They added again in the fourth on a fielder’s choice to take a 7-0 lead. The Soxs threatened in the bottom of the fourth, however, they grounded into a bases-loaded double play. The score was 7-0 after four. The Storm scored one run in the fifth to make it 8-0 on a passed ball. The next batter brought in the game-winning run on a double, making it 10-0 Storm.

NRV Tigers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-3 loss to Longhorns Baseball. The Longhorns scored on an error, a single by Green, and an error in the first inning. In the first inning, the Longhorns got their offense started when an error scored one run for the Longhorns. The Longhorns scored four runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Longhorns was led by Pepelea, Whitmore, and Green, all driving in runs in the frame. Melton led things off on the pitcher’s mound for the Longhorns. The hurler surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero. Ayden White started the game for the Tigers. White lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out three.

Base Knox Soxs vs Bulls Baseball

Base Knox Soxs defeated Bulls Baseball 10-1 on Friday thanks to a timely seven runs in a big first inning.  J. Houser, E. Painter, T. Pryse, and K. Daniels each drove in runs during the inning. Base Knox Soxs got things started in the first inning when Houser singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Z. Helton was the winning pitcher for Base Knox. The bulldog allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.  B. Fields, D. Varitek, and Houser all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Jake Edmondson took the loss for the Bulls. Edmondson surrendered seven runs on three hits over one inning, striking out three. Base Knox Soxs collected 11 hits.  Fields, D. Foster, and Pryse each collected multiple hits for the Soxs. Varitek led the Soxs with three stolen bases as they ran wild on the basepaths with 14 stolen bases.

Despite allowing three runs in the sixth inning, Base Knox Soxs defeated Chaos 9-5 on Friday.  Chaos’s big bats were led by #4, #1, and #5, all driving in runs in the frame. The Soxs got things started in the first inning. T. Myatt’s sac fly scored one run for the Soxs. The Soxs tallied three runs in the second inning. K. Daniels, D. Foster, and D. Varitek all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Daniels earned the win for the Soxs. The hurler allowed six hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking one.  Myatt and Varitek entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

NRV Tigers Orange 17u vs Chaos Elite 

NRV Tigers Orange nabbed the lead late in the game in a 7-4 victory over Chaos Elite on Friday. The game was tied at four with NRV Tigers Orange batting in the top of the fourth when Allen Hamblin reached on a dropped third strike. NRV Tigers Orange earned the victory despite allowing Chaos Elite to score three runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Chaos Elite was led by #7 and #5, who each had RBIs in the inning. NRV Tigers Orange took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Riley Joe Vaught doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Jonathan Davis singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run. Hamblin reached on a dropped third strike. Davis toed the rubber for NRV Tigers Orange. The pitcher surrendered four runs on three hits over three innings. #7 was on the mound for Chaos Elite. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out six. #14 threw two innings in relief. NRV Tigers Orange scattered seven hits in the game. Vaught and Davis each had multiple hits for the Tigers.

Longhorns Baseball vs Mission Baseball

Mission Prospects watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-0 loss to Longhorns Baseball on Saturday. Longhorns Baseball took the lead on a double in the first inning. Mission Baseball struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Longhorns, giving up eight runs. Longhorns Baseball opened up scoring in the first inning, when Ronald Whitmore doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. One bright spot for Mission Baseball was a single by Will Scannapiego in the first inning. Jacob Hopkins was on the pitcher’s mound for the Longhorns. The fireballer went six innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out six.  P. Minnix led things off on the mound for Mission baseball. Minnix lasted three innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out two. Conner Phillips threw three innings out of the bullpen. Tucker Proffitt, Phillips, and Scannapiego each managed one hit to lead Mission Prospects. Longhorns Baseball didn’t commit a single error in the field. William Arnold had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

Diamond Mine vs Mission Baseball

Diamond Mine fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-4 loss to Mission on Saturday.  Mission got on the board in the second inning when an error scored two runs. Mission scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Mission came thanks to a triple by Caden and a single by Parker. Will earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Mission. He allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out one. Tucker threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Sawyer Hegler took the loss for Diamond Mine. The pitcher lasted five and one-third innings, allowing 12 hits and seven runs while striking out one. Brendan Underwood went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Diamond Mine in hits. Mission racked up 13 hits.  Luke, Conner, and Henry all managed multiple hits for Mission. Luke led Mission with three hits in four at-bats.

Diamond Mine vs NRV Tigers Navy

Diamond Mine won the contest against NRV Tigers on Saturday, 6-1. Diamond Mine got on the board in the first inning when Jack Allen threw a wild pitch, allowing one run across the plate. NRV Tigers knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning.  Allen drove in one when Allen doubled. Diamond Mine pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  In the third, Brendan Underwood grounded out, scoring one run. Diamond Mine notched three runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by singles from Carter Hayes and Manning Stewart. Ronnie Griggs took the win for Diamond Mine. The fireballer lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and one run, while striking out five and walking zero. Allen took the loss for the NRV Tigers. The pitcher allowed one hit and three runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Underwood, Hayes, Ian Becker, and Stewart each collected one hit to lead Diamond Mine.

Showcase Baseball vs Cyclones 

This game started off all Cyclones. The Cyclones’ hitters put up quality at-bats early against Showcase’s pitching. The only things that kept Showcase in the game were their defense and by making the routine plays. Eventually Showcase’s bats turned around and they started to put up runs late in the game which allowed them to get back in the ball game. When the home half of the inning came up, the Cyclones were able to tack on a few more to give themselves a comfortable lead which they held on to for the win. The Cyclones improved to 1-0 on the weekend while Showcase dropped to 0-1.

SWA Storm vs RBI Prime

The Storm was hot all game. They started off by putting up some early runs and then managed to keep adding on almost every inning. With Prime not having an answer with their bats, the Storm managed to make this game a quick one by applying a 10-run rule. The Storm looked like a better team overall with better approaches which allowed them to get the win. In addition, the Storm made all the routine plays that they should have made, and with stellar pitching, they managed to have a complete shutout game. The Storm defeated Prime with a score of 10-0 in the second game at William Blount.

TN Fuel vs Full Count 

This game went back and forth the whole time. Full Count came out swinging, putting up five runs in the top of the first, which made them clearly seem like the better team. But then, when the bottom half came around, TN Fuel had an answer and put up five runs as well. This was how most of the game went; one team scored and then the other team had an answer. Both teams had some lackluster defense, but also made the routine plays. In the end, Full Count died off towards the end of the game while Fuel stayed hot. This led TN Fuel to win by a score of 13-10.

Tennessee Tide vs All American Patriots 

This game was a quick one with the Tide coming out of the gates hot. The Tide knew what they were looking for up at the plate and did not stray from their approach. As for the Patriots, they seemed physically outmatched. The Patriots were a smaller team, but were still physically sound. They struggled a little bit with the harder-hit balls which led to a few free runs for the Tide. Overall, the Tide just played better today and got the best of the Patriots. This was the last game of the day, and the Tide improved to 2-0 while the Patriots fell to 0-1.

Tennessee Tide vs TN Elite 

This game started off with Tide putting up lots of early runs. With help from their defense and starter, they were able to maintain their lead for most of the game without many runs against them. The Tide eventually got comfortable, and their lead started to slip. TN Elite’s hits started to fall and they started to scratch some runs across the board.  In the end, the Tide’s pitching held off for the win. This moved the Tide’s record to 2-0, and put TN Elite down to 0-1.

All American Patriots vs TN Elite 

TN Elite knew they were going to have to play better than last game and get the win to improve their record. TN Elite came out hot, cleaning up what they did wrong from their last game. Their approaches looked much better and they put good swings on the ball to produce solid contact.  The Patriots looked outmatched this game. Elite was much bigger physically and looked more mature. The Patriots seemed to be sloppy at some points, but also managed to keep most of this game at a reasonable score due to some good plays in the field. TN Elite ran away with this one with a score of 11-1.

Showcase Baseball vs GRA Norton

This game was a rough one for GRA Norton. Their pitching struggled to throw strikes and bats did not come around.  Showcase Baseball managed to hit the pitches that were strikes in the game and take the bad pitches. This led them to putting up many runs in the first two innings.  Showcase Baseball also had stellar pitching from their starter who did not let up a run all game.  In the end, though, this game showed how baseball is played for fun, as both teams seemed to have a fun time out there regardless of the score. And that is the one thing that really matters.

This game was cut short due to rain. Before the rain, both teams played solid ball and swung the bats really well. Both teams managed to put up a good amount of runs on each other before the rain came. Once the rain hit, the game was called due to the field not being playable. But either way, both teams still advanced into the championship on Sunday.

Diamond Mine jumped out to an early lead, putting up one run in the top of the first. Showcase immediately answered back in the bottom of the inning, putting up two runs of their own. The back-and-forth affair continued when both teams scored two runs in the fourth, giving Showcase a one-run lead. Diamond Mine scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead, but Showcase scored one run in the seventh, tying the game and ending it with a 5-5 score.

After the Blue Jays scored one run in both the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game, the Braves scored one in the bottom of the seventh to win the game 5-4.

Tri Star Crusaders vs NRV Tigers Navy

Tri Star capitalized on a double from their leadoff in this one, putting up a quick run in the first. They utilized small ball a lot in the first inning, putting up two runs off bunts. They capitalized on two errors and put up another three runs. Tri Star came out on defense and threw up a goose egg. The silence of the bats continued for both teams until the third. Tri Star put up another run in the third, and the Tigers broke the ice and put up their first two runs. The fourth inning was another quiet inning, but Tri Star put up another two runs in the top of the fifth. Tri Star put up another four runs in the top of the sixth. They threw up another goose egg for the win by run rule.

The Tigers came out and capitalized on two errors from the Fuel, allowing them to put up two runs. Fuel responded with one run of their own in the bottom of the inning off of an error. Fuel put up another run in the bottom of the second inning to tie up the game. The Tigers took off in the third inning with a two RBI single, and a two RBI Double with another error. The Tigers ended up scoring six runs that inning. The next two half-innings were silent until Fuel had a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth, along with two other runs.

The Astros came out hot in this one, racking up four runs quickly on the Fannin County High School squad. They quickly gave Fannin Co. their first zero. The Astros continued to do this all day on the defensive end. Fannin Co. put up their first run in the bottom of the fifth to prevent the 8-0 run rule. The Astros put up another four runs in the top of the sixth. They shut down Fannin Co. in the bottom of the sixth, ending the game.

Prime put up another run in the top of the fifth to tie up the game going into the bottom of the fifth with time expired.

This game was defined by the first inning for a long time. Tri Star put up two runs in the bottom of the first, tying and taking the lead from Showcase Baseball. The game was constant goose eggs until the top of the fifth when Showcase baseball finally took the lead back for the first time since the top of the first. This made the score 3-2 going into the sixth. Showcase Baseball put up another three runs in the top of the sixth, extending their lead to 6-2. Tri Star responded with a solo bomb to put a dent in the lead. Showcase Baseball shut down Tri Star in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.

Hard Knox Blue Jays vs NRV Tigers Orange

The starting pitchers for both teams came out and set the tone for their squads, getting through the first two innings with no runs. However, NRV’s bats woke up in the bottom of the third, scoring nine runs. #4 Parker Hale, # 9 Jake Weaver, #31 Dawson Gregg, and #2 MJ Hunter started off the inning with walks to score the first run of the game. Two more runs came in to score on an E4 by the Blue Jays to make it 3-0. Three free passes loaded the bases again for NRV, and three RBI knocks extended the lead to 9-0. The final blow came from #4 Parker Hale who delivered a two RBI double to put the run rule into effect. #14 Cory Sigmon came out in the fourth and shut down the Blue Jays to secure a complete-game shutout win.

NRV Tigers Navy came out swinging. #10 Ian Perkins led off the inning with a triple, and back-to-back RBI singles by #3 David Hunley and #24 Nathan Wesley made it 2-0. The Tigers tacked on one more run in the inning on an RBI groundout by # 17 Daniel Hutton. The Tigers added on to their lead in the second with a sac fly from #3 David Hunley. The Tigers blew this game wide open in the third inning with a deep drive into left by #7 Kerry Collins that scored three runs to make it 7-0. The Tigers tacked on three more runs, including a no-doubt home run by #34 Jacob Nester to get the run-rule win 10-0. #14 Isaiah Edwards pitched a gem to shutout the Saints and get the win. Edwards went four scoreless innings, striking out six.

Mission Prospects vs NRV Tigers Navy

Both starting pitchers came out and had easy first innings, but Mission Prospects were able to get the scoring started in the top of the second with a two RBI single by #25 Lamberth to take the lead early on. The Prospects were able to load the bases in the third and score two runs on walks. NRV had seen enough and decided to change pitchers trailing 4-0 in the third. However, #15 Seamen came up clutch for the Prospects delivering a two RBI single to make it 6-0. The Prospects added on three more that inning on a groundout and an error. Starting pitcher #5 Ghormely pitched a great game, throwing three innings of scoreless ball, only allowing one hit. In the fourth, the Prospects added on another run on an RBI single by #1 Mcafee. #32 Norris took over for the Prospects in the fourth and ran into a little trouble allowing two runs, but settled in nicely to close out the fifth and finish the game.

Fury vs NRV Tigers Orange

The NRV Tigers came out swinging to start the game today. Two RBI singles by #8 Andrew Shaffner and #5 Andrew Dalton helped NRV claim a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Fury responded very well, scoring five runs in the third on a big RBI double by #10 C. Johnson and an even bigger two RBI double by #8 Sam Hanks to take the lead 5-4. NRV responded with two runs in the fifth after the Fury walked in two runs for the Tigers. It looked as if NRV was going to walk away with the win as they had the Fury down to their final out with no one on base, but a two-out walk and an RBI double by #5 G. Smith tied it at 6 in the top of the seventh. Fury was able to keep NRV scoreless in the bottom half to finish with a 6-6 tie.

TN Force vs Carolina Prowl

Carolina Prowl controlled this one the whole time. Their bats came out hot and they put up three runs in the first inning on two errors and an RBI single by #10 Johann Rodriguez. Sloppy defense by the Force allowed two runs to score in the third and fourth innings before a huge two RBI double by #14 Landon Solesbee. Carolina Prowl’s pitching staff pitched very well, throwing strikes and racking up many strikeouts. The defense behind the pitchers was very clean! In the fifth, an RBI double by #6 Jacob Cogdell scored one to give the Prowl a run-rule victory.

#20 Tanner Franklin posted a dominating start for the TN Stix today. Franklin really set the tone for the Stix all day, going right after the Fannin batters. Franklin threw a complete game, striking out 12 batters and only allowing one run. #7 Owen Holbert led the way offensively for the Stix, going 4/4 with an RBI single. The Stix got their scoring started in the second, plating three runs to take an early lead. They added on two more in the third inning on RBI hits from #3 Logen Kodewald and #7 Owen Holbert. Fannin tried to crawl their way back into the game, scoring one on an RBI single by # 6 Jake Kuna in the fifth, but that is all they were able to score, and the Stix ended up cruising to an 8-1 victory.

The Chaos started the game off on the right note, scoring one run on an RBI groundout by #10 Noah. Chaos Elite’s pitcher, Brennan Corn, went a complete game allowing zero runs, zero hits, and striking out 10. He consistently filled up the strike zone all day, attacking hitters and getting outs. The Chaos offense scored one more in the second on an RBI sac fly from #16 Hayden. The Force changed pitchers and went to #12 Elisa Marquez. She settled in very nicely, throwing two scoreless innings, but the Chaos got to her in the sixth, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by #7 Taylor. The Chaos added one more in the seventh before Corn closed the door, throwing for the no-hitter.

This game was a back-and-forth affair where neither team would go down without a fight. Team Elite started the scoring when #1 Tucker drove in a run in the top of the second. However, the Fury responded with four runs of their own in the fourth to take a three-run lead. RBI knocks by #12 Shull, #1 Mullins, and #22 Zettel drove in those runs in the fourth. Team Elite responded with four runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead right back on huge two RBI hits from #20 Dorrien and #5 Carter. The Fury were able to scratch for one in the bottom half to tie the game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, with runners on second and third, #3 Wokkott laced an RBI single right back the middle for the walk-off victory for the Fury.

KBA 16u vs RBI Prime

The game started with both teams scoring in the first inning of the game. KBA started the scoring with two runners getting through a walk and a single. A stolen-bag attempt allowed the runner from third to score for KBA. RBI Prime responded in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI walk by #22 Bailey Carrol to tie things up at 1. Both starting pitchers settled into a groove and were able to manufacture their way through jams all game long. Neither team scored until the fifth when KBA got a clutch sac fly from #3 Austin to reclaim the lead. KBA’s defense helped their pitcher out of a jam in the sixth, but a walk, a couple of stolen bags, and a passed ball allowed RBI Prime to tie the game up at 2 in the bottom of the seventh while they were down to their final out.

Big Time Sports vs SWA Storm

Big Time started the scoring in the first with an RBI single. They added one more in the top of the second, but a 16-run second inning by the Storm put this one out of hand early on. A big two RBI double by #4 Jordan Carter gave the Storm a 6-2 lead, and a three-run homer by #3 Ben Goodwin made it 9-2. The Storm’s bats were scorching hot, and they could not get an out. Later in the inning, #4 Jordan Carter hit his second two RBI double of the inning to make it 15-2.
